Non ho letto niente riguardo il concerto di Milano, io c'ero
ed è stato fantastico...non li avevo mai visti tutti 5 sul
palco insieme li avevo visti nel lontano 1987 a San Siro ma
erano già rimasti in 3.

[SM=x580569]

italian dd fans rule
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
just wanted to write a bit about a uk fan's view of an Italian dd gig...I was affected so much I had to write a bit about it

I first saw dd in b'ham in 1987 and have seen them regularly since (in uk)
my cousin in italy loved dd when she was 12 - she was never really a fan as in 'going to concerts etc ... (she's only ever seen 2 - italian artist - concerts her whole life) ...but still dd were THAT first band for her...

I said if they ever played milan on this tour I would get tickets and take her to see them...
and June 5 was annouced...

inside their were banners everywhere "5 is better than 3" 'Duran duran:thank you for the dream" one for 'astronaut.it' and lots of others including one near the front that had a lot of writing all over it... I'd never seen so many banners since my first 1987 gig - all these things told you it was going to be a special night

I know from having seen a few concerts in italy before how the crowds reacted and I knew how fanatical italian duran fans are/and have always been.... but still I was not prepared for what happened as it began...

I've seen this concert 3 times before last year in london/b'ham and 2 weeks ago in b'ham so I knew fully what to expect/how the concert began...yet I wasn't prepared for what would happen....as we stood amongst the crowd about 15 rows from the front the crowd's reaction got louder and more intense and I suddenly realised what was happening and how it was nothing like I had experienced before -
and even though I'd seen it before it was affecting me like it was the first time...everything was just so perfect, and knowing that marianna was seeing all this,it did bring tears to my eyes... (afterwards she told me it had affected her the same way also) - and that was how it affected me and I'd seen that start 3 times...you can immagine what it felt like for her...the reaction from the italian fans was like nothing I had known before

(nice to hear the the fans sing UNION OF THE SNAKE -great to hear it back in the set-
with all the ad lib bits from ARENA version!!)

the crowds response to SAVE A PRAYER blew me away...and by the chorus the singing was deafening....(the reaction to THE WILD BOYS was just as intense) - what's pretty amazing is that I will never be able to listen to SAVE A PRAYER the same ever again...
this most perfect song now has a whole new meaning/level of intensity

I know I will pay the price for this great gig as whatever I see now will never live up to it - I'm also very sure that it is like this at many other dd shows outside the uk ...I know for a lot of people in the uk (not the dd fans) ...shows are just a 'night out' and their reaction tells you this

it was just awesome for 1 night to have everyone around me feel exactly the same as me as the songs started up,and for me not have to worry if my reaction to a song/my actions would upset the person next to me/behind me...and I'd be getting a tap on my shoulder

I just want to say if any uk fans ever think of going outside the uk to see a dd show I recommend italy - you will not be dissappointed!! - and to the italian fans YOU RULE!!
you made it a perfect night

watching my cousin through the concert/seeing how she reacted...and hearing her speak afterwards so excitedly about it all were priceless moments...
I knew she would be affected like this by duran live - and that was without anticipating how an italian crowd would intensify it all even more...

21 years after seeing her playing ARENA lp she saw it all come to life in front of her eyes
...I know how I was affected and I've been seeing DD since 1987 and have had 20 years of seeing concerts...for her to have this as her 3rd only ever concert and to HAVE IT BE BY the first band that affected you...well you could see in her eyes what it had all meant
